Soil & Groundwater

RSI systems are most effective when treating the source of groundwater contamination—gasoline, or other volatile petroleum hydrocarbons, trapped within the soil pore spaces. Free-phase gasoline product (FP) can also be recovered by applying a vacuum and removing it through soil vapor extraction, or by using dual-phase extraction with a tube that draws the product to the surface.

  • Soil Vapor Extraction — Applies vacuum to remove gasoline vapors and other hydrocarbon contaminants from soil pore spaces.
  • Multi-Phase Extraction for Free Product Removal — Mobile dual-phase and multi-phase extraction systems remove soil vapor, groundwater, and free-phase gasoline product. These systems may be combined with air-injection and sparging modules.
  • Natural Gas Condensate Removal and Methane Vapor Control — Mobile systems recover liquid condensate while controlling hydrocarbon and methane vapors produced during extraction.

Air Pollution Control

RSI’s mobile vapor-control systems achieve greater than 99.5% VOC abatement without generating spent carbon or scrubber media for disposal. These systems are designed for tank, railcar, barge, and pipeline degassing, as well as vacuum-truck vapor control.

  • Industrial Degassing — RSI provides zero-open-flame I.C.E. oxidation, thermal and catalytic oxidation, and media adsorption systems for industrial vapor control.
  • Vapor Abatement — Self-contained, mobile systems engineered to achieve greater than 99.5% VOC abatement without generating secondary waste.
  • Tank, Vessel & Pipeline Degassing — Mobile vapor-control systems engineered for tanks, vessels, railcars, barges, and pipelines.
  • Vapor Control — Vacuum-truck scrubbers engineered for mercaptan abatement and hydrocarbon vapor control.

Tank Bottom Sludge Removal

RSI equipment assists in the removal of tank-bottom waste by increasing sludge-process vacuum while simultaneously treating the resulting vapors. This process can reduce slurry generation, liquid waste, cleaning costs, and total tank-cleaning time.

  • Heavy Solids & Sludge Removal — Increased process vacuum assists with sludge extraction while providing integrated vapor abatement.
  • Reduced Liquid Waste — Increased process vacuum can reduce the amount of slurry and liquid waste generated compared with conventional tank-cleaning methods.
  • Faster Turnaround — More efficient sludge extraction can reduce tank-cleaning time and minimize tank downtime.

Power & Cogeneration

RSI’s I.C.E. generator module converts recovered hydrocarbon vapors into usable electricity. The generated power can operate on-site lights, pumps, tools, and motors, reducing operating costs while allowing surplus electricity to be sold back to the local utility.

  • Regenerative Power — Uses recovered hydrocarbon vapors as fuel to generate electricity rather than wasting their energy value through flaring.
  • Grid Sell-Back — Surplus electricity may be sold to the local utility, creating a potential revenue source while reducing project operating costs.
